Part 1: Finding Your Niche

I don’t just describe the “theory” of finding niches; we do it!

Many beginners trip up right away by choosing a niche that is TOO big. There is no possible way a beginner can compete with a new site if there is too much competition. Likewise, the market has to be large enough so some success can be enjoyed. I provide 1500 niche ideas to brainstorm with and tips on how to choose a reasonably sized niche.

Here is an extreme example of choosing too large of niche: I had a new customer who already had a website but was not getting any traffic. His site’s topic was “Vacation Destinations”. He had pages of content about everything from Grand Canyon vacations to Australian cruises. It was a great site which received almost no traffic from the search engines. He invested all that time but there was no way to compete in an area that broad. I taught him how to focus a new site on a small, but popular, vacation spot in his area.

His success with the more focused site proved once again that it is better to have a small piece of a small pie than to have nothing from one too large.

Part 2: Researching Keywords

One of my biggest mistakes early on was relying on the free keyword tools.
