Why Small Niches Are Best For Beginners

Many beginners think that if they choose a very large area like weight loss, making money, insurance, Internet marketing, etc.  they will at least get some “crumbs” so to speak.

NOT SO!

Remember that it’s always best to have a small slice from a small pie than NOTHING from a large one.

And nothing is what a beginner will surely get if they try to tackle a large area as their first project. The amount of time and work required in those large areas will frustrate the beginner. In fact, they will likely quit their Internet marketing endeavors entirely.

Secondly, they are not even sure if what they are doing is working. That’s why small niches are so good for beginners; the feedback is much quicker. The beginner is able to see results very quickly and then knows their techniques are working.

With that quick and positive feedback the beginner can then go into larger and larger areas as they tweak and ramp up what they know works.

Also, the beginner needs to know if what they are doing does NOT work. If only poor results in a small niche are achieved, then surely attempts in a larger area will fail entirely.

Steps for Success:

• Learn the basics and build the required skills
• Find a small niche
• Market to that niche
• Wash, rinse and repeat for larger niches and areas once successes in very small niches are achieved.

The Power of Online Niche Marketing

Too often beginners choose a market that is simply too large for their current skills. It’s virtually impossible for a beginner to attempt online marketing in large areas such as weigh loss, self-development or any financial area. I have a short video here describing a person who is very successful marketing to a site that most beginners would consider “too small.” It’s a very good example of the power and potential profit of focused niche marketing.

Finding Your Niche Organically

A Guest Post by Kelli Claypool

“How do I find my niche” or “I don’t know what my niche is” is often one of the first comments I hear when coaching a new client. When searching for your niche, we have to get to the root of your passion and determine what sets yourself apart from others (your competitors).

In following these steps, you should have a better understanding of what your niche is and what you are passionate about. Allow yourself to work freely and act upon your emotions during this exercise. It’s not about what’s in your head, it’s about what’s in your heart…what moves you. When you allow yourself to think freely, you will find your niche…your true niche organically.

Let’s brain dump! Get a notebook and start writing everything that comes to your head about YOU. What your likes are. What you want to accomplish. What your desires are. What your passions are. Make a list with only one word or phrase per line. For example,

Focused
Energetic
Helping others
Giver
Making money
Supporting my family
Walking on the beach
Healthy
Natural
Spirituality
Business minded
Creativity
Organized
Motivated

You get the point! Make your list as long as you can think of words or phrases that describe you. The more you write down, the clearer you will be with your niche. There is no right or wrong answers, so be very thorough and extremely truthful with yourself. This is about YOU and what you feel, not what others say about you.

Now take your list and put them into the following categories:

• Passions (things you like to do)
• Traits (things you’re good at)
• Profitability (things that can make you money)

There may be some words/phrases from your list that will fall into more than one category. That’s good! Ideally, you should choose a niche that falls into at least two of the three categories.

Now take your list and write down the words/phrases at show up in multiple categories. From the new list, conduct a market research (search Google) to determine your target market, based on your words/phrase results, and find out who your competitors are. Evaluate what your competitors are doing and figure out a way to set yourself apart from them. Whether you create products or offer services, finding a niche that you are passionate about will make you abundantly successful.

Once you’ve found your niche, start setting realistic goals. A business and marketing plan is a great place to start. Keep your sights on your vision and press forward one step at a time toward achieving your goals. When you are passionate about what you are doing, it’s no longer called work. So, enjoy the ride!

Did You Choose The Right Niche?

No matter how cool your site is…no matter how well your page is optimized…no matter if you get EVERYTHING else right, if you choose the wrong niche, nothing else you do matters.

The single biggest mistake beginners make is choosing the wrong niche.

Here’s the definition of a great niche:

A good niche is any topic or area in which you can successfully drive traffic to and earn money with.

Beginners often go into areas far too large; they end up spending hours building a site no one will ever see. Others choose a niche which is too small and/or does not have good monetization opportunities.

I am unsure why new marketers skip over this very important step so often. Oftentimes someone asks me to critique a site they have created. All too often I have to tell them (as nicely as I can) that they have wasted their time…they will never have success getting search engine traffic to the niche they chose.

Internet marketing is NOT “Build It and They Will Come!”

I too had to learn this fact the hard way in the beginning. I can’t tell you how much time I wasted writing content and building pages which NEVER got traffic.

I finally learned a method which guarantees great niches and keywords 90% of the time!

Click Here and Discover How To Choose the Right Niche and Keywords

The ability to choose a good niche is probably the most important skill a beginning marketer can learn.

Always Remember This:

We DO NOT pick niches because we THINK they are good. (Oh, and we DO NOT use the keyword tools alone to analyze a niche either…that’s a big mistake) Although there are no guarantees, we can definitely make a very educated decision about a niche BEFORE spending one minute writing content and building a site.

I created a very simple-to-understand package of tutorials which demonstrates the exact method I use for finding good niches. The technique requires a few hours of work, but the results are niches and keywords which are PURE GOLD!

If you don’t have a good method for choosing correct niches and keywords, your marketing is a lot like playing darts in the dark.
